Vitreous enamel is a glassy material which origins go back to the Ancient Egyptians, over 2800 years ago.
Its compositions and characteristics reveal its very close relationship with glass; in fact their histories go hand in hand.
The application of enamel on metals spread in ancient times in Byzantium and later throughout Europe, where, in the Middle Ages, saw his triumphs in Georgia, in Italy and then in France and Germany, but also in India and China.
The art of vitreous enamel, although it always had a particular affinity with goldsmith’s art, today finds application in many other areas, such as interior design, architecture, fashion and craft.
Enamel is a very attractive way to express artistic creativity and therefore interesting to schools and community .....
