BRONZE CASTING

The "lost-wax" technique (discovered a few thousand years ago) is still practiced by African smelters.
In this course we will explore this technique in all its nuances, and at the end of the course you can bring with you the work of art you created.

The first stage consists of making a wax model, placing the jets and leak points that will allow the liquid bronze to enter the chamber.

Using gloves,we will work a mixture called "Banko" consisting of clay and horse manure that will form the mold around the wax objects. Then the molds will be sun-dried and cooked in order to receive the molten bronze.

The bronze will be poured into the mold at a temperature of over 1000 °, (the birth of your sculptures). When the pouring has occurred, molds will be cooled, opened and the extracted pieces will be filed and polished, finished to be exposed!
